Jackie- This does not sound kosher to me at all nor did i agree to go to western union. I looked up the address and name of the sender on the packet and they are no where to be found. The address does not even exist. As a matter of fact, i looked up you to and there is a wonderful expo on you on google referencing scams. It even has the responses you sent me verbatim. Am i the only one that finds peculiar?
2nd: I received a check from Magnagas Corporation for $3525.00 with a request from you to send in my name to your movers from Western Union. Why would you trust me when you could have paid them yourself? This makes no sense. I am copying a close personal friend whom also is familiar with certain aspects of electronic fraud and laundering. I will gladly go to the Sun Trust in Clark NJ as i will be heading down that way for business this week and show them the check for verification and cash once confirmed. What do you say? Still want to buy the couch? I'll patiently wait for your response but wont hold my breath.

First off, I tried selling a utility trailer on Craglist 2 months ago and was BOMBARDED by fake buyers that were trying to scam me out of the trailer. Un believable what these people try to do. Plus there were the whores that inquired asking for sex, etc. What a joke! So yesterday I went on craigslist to look for a pontoon boat. I found one without pictures so I asked and man did I receive. A complete SCAM using Google Checkouts. Here is the first email followed by the second email

So how do scammers come up with all these fake names and fake email addresses? I received a note from someone who was asked to help secure email addresses. Don't do it, I said. You could be considered an accomplice. Here's the note from the reader:

When something is too good to be true it usually is. Here is a reader picking a part the approach from a Sgt.Kevin Willis.

The Craigslist posting only had a picture & email (no description or phone #). When I inquired via email, his reply was addressed "Hello" even though I had given him my name. The price is too good. The condition is too perfect. His email did not include a phone #. He's "in a hurry" because of a "family emergency" and "needs to sell by 6/25". The email is too articulate. The boat description reads like a brochure. Includes a link to website with what appear to be professional pics of the boat. Everything looks brand new. He offers "delivery to your home address". Who offers that? He specifically rules out trades, payments & financing. First boat ad I've seen who's worried about that. Signs "SSgt.". Military connection makes people feel more trusting and can be used as an excuse for any number of what would otherwise seem to be unreasonable requests on a buyer or excuses by a seller.

Scanning Clerk Job Seems to be Scam

I saw your blogspot after I was googling "craiglist scammer", I wish I would of researched this more in dept as I applied to a job on craigslist. I'm already aware that there are scammers on the website but the job posting looked really real and legit to my knowledge. I know of identiyfing scammers but its been years and they are uping their game. Sadly for honest people like me who are looking for a job, get discouraged to even apply anymore.

Here's my craigslist story. I would like to be posted as anonymous if you would mind for my personal information is already floating around. I applied to a "Scanning Clerk" position listed in my town along with my cover letter and attached resume. I listed my return email as the one i'm writting to you with and my cell phone number at the end of my cover letter. Sadly I sent my resume along which contains my personal information as well. After I applied for this job, the next morning I recieved an email with an interest in me for the job which asked me for my personal information that already has been listed on my resume.

However later on that day I started getting phone calls saying I won a gift card for walmart for taking a survey. I know for a fact I did not fill out any survey. As the next day they called back again. How did I know this was a scam? Because it sounded like a real person but they said the EXACT same script to me the day before! I asked for a supervisor or manager which they didnt do so I told them if you dont let me talk to your manager then stop calling me or else I will file you for harassment with your phone number or ip address. I wish I would of kept both phone numbers but i deleted it out of anger. (209-320-9932) that is one number. the same guy "Will" calls about me winning a walmart gift card and that he needs my information so he can direct me to a link to accept the gift card. Please pass on the new scam they are doing. They are taking your email response and personal information and forwarding it to others that do the same scam. Thank you for your time and let's hope we find a way to stop them soon! ;)

Another Scam Victim of Katherine and Tammy Hights Tells her Tale

Yet another sad tale about how the scam works:

Hello, my name is XXXXXXX and I found your blog online. I have recently been scammed by Katherine and Tammy also. Just today actually, I found out it was a scam after I wired this Tammy Hights her money to Fortworth Tx. Our experience with these people are identical. I was saleing a piano on Craigs list for $300. Katherine emailed me interested in it. She wanted me to send her pictures, told me she already had arrangements for it. She sends me a cashiers check for $1990.00 and told me to deposit it into my bank account. I did, she told me to wait until it cleared in my account, she told me to keep an extra $50 for all the hassle and when it cleared in my account, message her ASAP and go to a western union and wire money $1500 to Tammy Hights, who she lead me to believe was the one Picking the piano up. So I did this today. I would have never thought it was a scam until I talked to friends and family about it. I called my bank, and the confirmed the check was illegitimate. I called western union and filed a fraud report on them, but it's hard to tell how many other people they are scamming!! These people are very sly and very deceitful and need to be stopped. I am now out $1500 because of them.. I am sorry this has happened to you also. They are taking advantage of kind hearted people like us. :(

Scammer Uses Alias "Brian Anderson"

Reader thinks a Brian Anderson posing as Red Bull Hiring Manager is a scammer. Note the several email addresses. It's also funny because the address they give, Kiest blvd, shows the picture of a run-down house on Google.com/maps, which you can see here:

Scammer Uses Alias "Amanda Jones" to buy Tractor

I believe this is a scam I found on craigslist in albany, ny under a search for "tractor." Below is a reply from Amanda Jones. This tractor is probably worth between $12,000-$15,000 or even more with all the implements.
