can anyone answer this question, how do the scammers scam you with this method? i dont understand. Is it that they need your address and phone number, therefore making it easier to hack online banking and e-mail amounts? I just dont get it... here is the email sent to me, im pretty sure it is a scam but cannot even begin to think how having my address would allow them more access to personal information, i mean, ever hear of the white pages?!?!?!

Yes! Me too. What DO they get from this type of scam? Is it just the initial reel-in and then once they have your trust, they change the terms and ask you to cash a big bogus money order and send them the difference?
For those who are using scammerspammer.com my code has incorrectly banned some users. If you got banned just try again as I have reset tr ban list and cleaned up my bad code. Thanks for the help.

Very similar to mine, today a ck arrives for 3150. My asking price was 800. but noting that the email and the guys name changed per email I knew fraud right away, I called FedEx with the tracking number to see if they could tell me who sent the ck and that too did not match what was on the return address or on the ck itslef. I've contacted Craigs list printed out my stuff and will give to the local police department today.
This too has recently happened to me where they sent me a check- check cashed and cleared- Feels like a scam, whats the angle? and what should i do? return the money? got to the authorities?
I think they use your information to create new email addresses. They also send fake checks for more then the required amount and ask for the difference to be sent back to them.
I recieved an email from Betty Smith who emailed me from victoreric5000@gmail.com to ask me if my room for rent was still available and I replied yes, they then responded from a different address markboom3002@gmail.com which I googled and found an exact copy of the email they sent me on a website that was listing scammers.
seems like the same form and approach.

All, The king.kind006@gmail.com address is still active... and still a scam. I got an e-mail from David Lucas asking if an item is still available. I said no (as a legit buyer had picked it up last night). Then I got this OBVIOUS SCAM as a response (which is the same e-mail he was using back in May!

Just got an email from "David lucas" on 20 Oct 2012 ... email address king.kind006@gmail.com
Used the EXACT same email as Cath posted (above).
This is extremely disappointing ... I work a lot with Wounded Warriors, and this is something (phones for hearing impaired) that I usually deal with ... I was close to going ahead with it, but wanted to do some quick research before I responded ... glad I did. Is there anything we can do to stop this?!?
