Thanks for this blog. I googled the organization of the individual listing a rental and found this. We were going to look at the place tomorrow, and possibly send money. Glad I found this posting and others like it.

The same thing came back from a rental ad in St. Paul MN. I get lots of these when looking on Craigslist for rental properties. The only ones that you can TRULY trust are ones that include their phone numbers so you can call them.... and it should be a LOCAL number to whatever area you are looking in1!

Same thing is happening on the Boston Craigslist. Just saw a too good to be true posting for a 3br/2ba house for rent in Melrose. The email address that was on CL was dqnhg-3275178907@hous.craigslist.org and the bogus email address was sent by the address cucinattia@yahoo.com. Sadly, I did some digging around and this house is actually being rented out at the time being and by someone with the name I was given, but by a real estate company. All well...
Same ad in Evanston IL ....the place is allegedly 1 block from the lake and in a "convenient location"....well no place is 1 block from the lake AND conveniently located. This HIV worker was "Walter Moses"...and I wonder who it really was with those African kids in the photos.
I sent a copy to abuse@craigslist.org and abuse@yahoo.com since scammer has a yahoo address
when he answered my inquiry. And I included the long headers. I heard back from Craigslist who said to forward to their legal dept (they couldn't do that?)...and I flagged it at Craigslist. Last time I looked I believe it had been deleted.

I have replied to a few different craigslist posts about one bedroom apartments and twice I got e-mails talking about a " FAMILY LIFE AND HIV EDUCATION AND THE HIV PREVENTION FOR RURAL YOUTH PROGRAM" and how they were out in Africa for 2 years. When I went to research this program, scam warning websites came up!
Beyond fed up with this, this has effected my move back to the states of my hometown in Seattle. Its cost me so much time and wasted effort, virtually every house I was seeking was a scam, now I have 3 weeks before I return and no house to move into, this is beyond ridiculous, they need to block Africas access to the internet altogether, nothing but scams in every aspect coming out of there, it is so unfortunate for the other people living there, this gives them a bad name.
It seemed So real he called me and we talked about the house and every thing i went by the house and it had nothing that the add discribed. It was for Brandon, Ms and I remember seeing a Realtor sighn in the yard. He. Called me three times to give me the money Gram info . I found this web site the day before I was going to send tye money thank god for a first mind
I got the same email today from an ad on Craigslist about a home in Riverside, CA. I found this website when I googled the name of the organization. When I googled the actual address I found that the house is for rent by an actual real estate company for 1,799 a month when the scammers only wanted $700 a month. Glad, I found this info before continuing contact. I have already flagged on Craigslist and alerted the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

PLEASE NOTE: This scam was also listed on the WASHINGTON, DC Craigslist. The photo that was given to us was of a couple in their 50's with a photo of African children. I didn't know how to attach it to my comment, but it is probably bogus anyway.

i also got an email from these fuckers!! for a housecin cambridge,md.3bd,2bath,and all kinds of amenities for 577 a month and wanted mecto send400 deposit.when i asked if they had a person in town with a key to show me the house and that i didnt think it was safe for me to send the money without seeing it or signing a lease, they sent me 3 messages saying that their christian people and that they would never rip anyone off.to trust them.they sent me the address and everything to send the money.they even had a txt question for the western union.it was who created us? answer:god.they are ridicoulous!!i also repoted them.be careful.

My wife came across the D.C. Craigslist listing, and contacted them. She sent me the email they sent her. It seemed really fishy to me, so I googled it, and I found this website. Well, just a few minutes ago, a man called me. My wife had given him my name and phone #. When I confronted him about the scam, he became irate. He cussed me out, and threatened to kill me. He said that since I had questioned him, I would pay for it with my life. He told me that he was going to contact his men.
I'm assuming that he is bluffing, but I contacted the appropriate authorities anyway.
Just got one of these from 1422 Catasaqua rd bethlehem, pa from a Diana hodgson. Same email as above. Thank you for posting this otherwise I probably would halve sent in the money.

I've already gave him my details and he called me that I'm qualified to rent the house!! The house was in the same building where I stay now. Well... how can people possibly do this kinda thing?? So frustrated.
