THANKYOU for your website!! When I first received an email from this guy I was stoked – someone was interested in my dress – yay! After I replied, I Googled the email address. I thought that it was a little strange that someone was emailing me from the UK. Your website popped up immediately. Over the weekend I received the email below. I have not replied – I so want to tell this guy to piss off!! But I’ll ignore it, and pass the email on to you. If I’d received his next email even without seeing your website, I would have thought it was a pile of crap – the story is way to unbelievable. Thanks again.

Another Thankful Reader - Wedding Dress Sought by James Anderson
Here's a note from another reader who was not scammed after checking this site. Note how James Anderson has 2 addresses, James.ander@live.com and James.Andy0@yahoo.co.uk. That's a very common tactic out there. I apologize in advance to all the other James Andersons whose name is being falsely used by these scammers.

I JUST got the SAME email about the wedding dress I posted on Craigslist. He's using different name & email address (he's posing as Charles L. King 3821 SW 83rd Street Oklahoma City, OK 73159 with charlesking009@gmail.com as his email address) After reading his email about being the pastor to the bride & she having all these problems & with the fiance having an accident..yadda yadda..I was a little sketchy. I did a little research on his name, address & all & found that the number belongs to someone of a different name in a completely different city!! Thank goodness I found this page!!
I also JUST got the SAME email about the wedding dress I posted on Craigslist. He's using different name & email address (he's posing as Charles L. King 3821 SW 83rd Street Oklahoma City, OK 73159 with charlesking009@gmail.com as his email address.) With me, he has already sent the check for $2800 for a dress that only costs $450 bc he wanted me to send the rest of the money Western Union to Vivian Templeton 1800 South Austin Ave, Alex, Ok 73002 and he also gave me his number so I can call him or leave him a message. 580-303-4255. I knew something wasn't right about it so I started researching the addresses after explaining it to a friend. He almost got me. I am so glad that I found this website so I can share my story. It was my first time posting on Craigslist.
I also got the SAME EXACT email from this guy! I wouldn't have known it was a scammer if I hadn't have googled the number listed and ran across this website! On the email I received, he used the name Charles King too! Thanks for the info!!!

I decided to "Nigerian-ize" my reply just for fun, plus add a couple of mildly racist comments. Enjoy! BTW- the address I gave him and the name to put on the "bank check" is our Chief of Ploice here in League City.

Ah! I got the same e-mail from "Charles L. King", I thought his story sounded way to fake and decided to google the name. I am so grateful for this site! I sounded too good to be true and apparently is! Thank you so much!
I got the same email!!!! I took the number he provided and googled it and this website came up. Although I knew it was a scam and I replied and told him I knew it was once he sent the message. I am so glad there are sights like this for people who are easy to prey on with shameless scammers.
My mother just got the same email from Charles King at the OK City address...same exact email as a previous comment about him being the pastor and buying the dress for the bride with hypertension etc. What a jerk to prey on those who are involved either with these diseases or involved in their church. Watch out!!
There is no sick bride or church- he is a flat out Nigerian scammer. He's propbably sitting in a cyber- cafe in Lagos, and is about 15 years old.

Thanks to all of you I will not be scammed either. I just got the same email from Charles King as you all have. Called the number and an operator (supposedly) stated the party was not available at the time and did I want to leave a number. I was about to reply, when a small still voice said "Check him out" I keyed in his name and address on the search engine and arrived at this location. Does anyone know what can legally be done to stop the sick creature? I am extremely offended that he was dare call himself a pastor. May God have mercy on his soul. Thanks again everyone. I just got the same exact email from this guy. He was posting as a pastor trying to buy my used wedding dress from someone who is very ill at his church. I smelled something fishy right away. He then asked for my full mailing address, number and bank info. What an ass this guy is! My fiance called the number and it was an answering service. It was very sketchy and confirmed my suspicion. If it is too good to be true, it probably is. I can't believe this scumbag is still doing this! He should be arrested. I really want to write him a nasty email back! Unfortunately, I gave him my cell and told him to call me in our 1st correspondence so it's best to just ignore the email. Thank you for the blog. I hope others are smart and cautious enough to google this a-hole before getting scammed!

I have seen that he asks for your name, address and phone #. What can he do with that? All of that stuff is what one would find in a phone book. Or is it the matter of the check arriving and someone actually putting it in their bank account? I mean what is the purpose her other than to get on ppls nerves?

I, too was scammed by this guy. Currently in the process of trying to stop the package from getting to Elmuti Bukrym in Allen, TX. I have deposited the check in my account already, and that is what I am most fearful of. Will be visiting the Chief of Police immediately. Would not have known it was a scam had it not been for this post and the slight inclination that something might be wrong, so I googled the address of the "bride." Does anyone know what this guy could do, now that the check has been deposited, and he has my address and such?
I will be frequently visiting craigslist to warn other brides of this a**hole, and I pray that God punishes him for this evil act.

OMG!!! I just received the same email from a Philip U. Graham from Arlington, TX. I reported it to the craigslist scam section! Thank god I am wise enough to check things out before I act on them!! Everyone needs to be careful and check first or you can easily be scammed!

I received an email from Richard Oliver from OK regarding a wedding dress I posted. Yadda, yadda, yadda...he is a pastor and he wants to purchase the dress for someone in his church who is sick with diabetes and chronic pain and her fiance is under the weather as well. He wants to send me a certified bank check for me to cash so please provide him with my address and phone number. I replied to him by saying "get lost scammer." That was 2 days ago. Low and behold, he tried it again today after I marked his email as a phishng scam. Thankful for this site!

I had a weird feeling something was fishy because of him being a pastor and all but my mom was like sell it. I just received a check from him of $2600 with the name Philip Hobermon . The check was taking forever and he then wrote this :

my wife just received the same exact e-mail today from Philip M. Graham it sounded good until i searched the town he said he was from and even called the chamber of commerce there to see if he was actually a pastor in the town. really glad i did, no telling what would of come of it.

We just recently ran into this same exact scenario last week. We made the mistake of providing our address and actually received a check in the amount of $2500.00, this being the excuse behind it:
"The amount i placed with my company is a refund for a canceled order and been a refund it can only be written on a single check so
that is why i want you to receive these amount and send the difference to the bride for her wedding dress and also booking of receptions hall for engagement/wedding before the wedding date."
We immediately returned it to the company on the check, which appears to be an actual company:

Yes, "Pastor Philip Graham" has just attempted to scam me too. Just asking for my name and address and providing the same to send the check didn't alert me. The fact that he stated "wait until you receive cash in hand" didn't alert me, because that meant I could wait for the check to clear my account. I may not have been suspicious of anything if it weren't for the fact that I have been in the financial industry for a long time and have dealt with many people falling victim to or preventing people from falling victim to people like this. You and people like you are the reason why mankind is so untrustworthy of one another! Want to change the world? How about not screwing over everyone else! You need help! I even put him up on Local C-List. C-list sent me a security email but who cares I think of all the innocent girls that are about to loose money and a gorgeous wedding dress and my heart breaks for them. Same here. I'm glad I google the name "Richard G Oliver". I found this helpful website and realized it was a scam! It's really sad that this guy is doing this for dresses. I reported him and let's hope the authorities find him. I can't imagine how many innocent people he's victimized through this scam. Got an email about my wedding dress from Richard G Oliver. Same story of him being a pastor to a sick girl with diabetes. I knew it was a scam and told him I was ending communication with him. I thought it odd that someone from Oklahoma would be buying a dress from Florida . . . and then I noticed his email address: rick.oliv01@yahoo.fr. I'm glad the website is out there to help other people that might not know otherwise that this is a scam.

I received the same exact email from Richard G Oliver about wanting to by my wedding dress. I got the same story of him being a pastor to a sick woman with diabetes. I had a feeling it was a scam. I told him I wanted a money order instead of a bank check. Never heard anything else from him. I also thought it odd that someone from Oklahoma wanted to buy my dress when I live in PA. I'm glad I found this website. I hope this helps other people so they don't get scammed.

I told him I would not be cashing any sort of check nor would I be sending the wedding dress. The name he used for me was Phillip Graham and he states he is a pastor in Texas.

I just got an email with the same message BUT a different name attached to it. The person on the email I got says his name is Tyler Blauw and listed the address in Albert Oklahoma. This person I am "supposed to" send the "money" to is Vivian Templeton in Alex Oklahoma. So anyone that sees these names be aware that he (or they) are using different names. You know it sucks when all I really want to do is find someone honest to buy my dress.
Tyler G. Blauw is the name used to contact me. Thankfully, I knew it was a scam and googled it. It is. Here's my response...

I thought it was strange that someone out of state would send money for a dress they had only seen photos of, but I told her to respond with her name, address, and phone number, against my better judgement. Then she received another email:

Now this is really getting strange. We are waiting to see if we receive any check in the mail and what kind of check it is. If we receive a check, and if I thought the check was actually any good, I would be tempted to tell her to deposit it and keep the money. It would serve this guy right. But depositing the check would probably cause even more problems.

wow... these guys are crazy!!! i almost got scammed too....put my wedding dress on CL same exact things said except in a text cuz i left my number on my pose. I realized it was a scam when he said he was sending me a bank certified check for 2800 dollars for a 150.00 dress. and said he wanted me to send the rest to the bride....i finally sent a texxt back that said " ur an idiot, nice scam, i called the cops." and i will. He said his name was Tyler Blauw and hes buying it for his daughter. i will turn these guys in.
And he has struck again. Worse than the scams are them getting my hopes up that I'll finally sell the dress!\
Love this site! Worked exactly as creator planned. Yesterday I received a text message..that didn't raise any red flags and I replied. Then today I received 3 more messages from the same number that seemed fishy. So I Googled the name TYLER BLAUW and tada! This website was the first to come up. My text was very similar to the emails others have received. I will always check this website for future craigslist transactions. And remember: ALWAYS DO BUSINESS IN PERSON, IN A SAFE AREA WITH OTHER PEOPLE PRESENT.

Tyler Blauw sent me a text message and I didn't think anything was sketchy until the whole $1700 for a $500 dress. I was dumb enough to give him my name and address. I am really freaked out now and I have not received the check but I will certainly not be cashing the check or sending the dress anywhere. Nothing bad has happened to anyone right??? I am really scared. the number he used was 605-644-6059. I never got the address for the supposed bride. This time he posed as the mother to the bride.

OH WOW~ I got a text from Tyler Blauw asking very little about wedding dress. Also sent me $2k, of which I was VERY skeptical.. So thankful for Google.. People, be very careful on Craigslist.. Creeps like this are out there everyday. If anyone wants more details, feel free to ask. Right now I'm so upset.. Wondered why return address said Boston, but postmarked from Illinois, wedding in Texas, but daughter lives in Ohio.. Red flags ALL the way. He sent me $2k for a $100 dress, asked little about dress. When I asked that he call, said he was at work and couldn;t. Told me that this $2k was a refund that had to be reissued in one check, and take my $100 out and western union rest back to daughter.
