Rental Property Scam Going Strong

These are some of the more recent names and identities, addresses, emails that the Craigslist scammer has been using of late. Keep sending them my way so I can post them here.

I just received a response to a rental ad from a TOM TAILOR. Thank you so much for posting this scam warning! The rental belongs to my father in law who is in his 70's and may have fallen for this con. Thankfully he wasnt doing this solo, and you guys have this posting up to warn would-be victims. Our person was Prof Richard Jordan and the furniture company contact was KELVIN WILSON, [CEO] WATERWAY FURNITURE. We found out this was a scam from this blog but let the guy go ahead and send the check. We received an $8500 check via UPS at 7:15am this morning. All he owed us was $1275. We were suppose to send $2850 to the furniture company and keep the rest. The check was from AOL Time Warner in Ohio but came from Florida and it was a Wells Fargo Check. We took the check to the police and they said because the check was from Ohio, it was out of their jurisdiction. So we took it to a Wells Fargo Bank and they said it was a real Wells Fargo check but the numbers were wrong so it wasn't any good. They made a copy of the check for us but kept the original to turn into the bank fraud dept. Prof Richard Jordan emailed us about 5pm and asked why we haven't sent the money to the furniture co and what happened to his money. I replied that the bank said the check was no good and he hasn't reply back.

I got an email from "titus bell" with email address of "titbellly1758@googlemail.com" asking if my rental was still available and this was the response I got after I told him "yes".

Did research on the company name KRS Insurance Group (UK) thru Googles and found this blog and others!! Thanks for your posting!!

"Sure, Titus! While I'm at it, I might as well send you my bank accounts number and password and oh, also my retirement accounts number and access codes!!

Your email has been forwarded to the FBI, Google, and Craiglist and other websites and bloggers' sites dedicated to scum bag scammers like you!! Don't worry, one or all of them will eventually track you and your "friends" down to give you the information you requested with accommodation and then some!!

The scammers that have contacted me have identified themselves as UK residents in the process of being relocated by their employers KMG Insurance, KPG Insurance, AFG Insurance, in order to open an office in the US. They have also said that they have contracted with an interior designer to set up the apartment -- they request to include the designers fee with the rental deposit so that I can pay the contracted designer on behalf of the renter... very elaborate, and very suspect. Follow your gut.

It definately sounds convincing, but the grammar is way off, which should be awarning! Here is the email I received on a rental property:

Oh my god, we also got similiar email from a Dave Shoemake with KRS company, relocating from UK to US. We also got an email back from a Dr Joseph Williams, vouching for the guy. The guy sent us a check of $7500 for the rent and deposit and want us to wire transfer the remaining to his interior decorator.
He gave us a phony address for the interior decorator in Florida. Good thing we google the address and couldn't find it on either Google Map nor Mapquest. We sent him an email asking whether the address is correct and the phone number of the interior decorator. His responses have been very vague and didn't give us the phone number of the interior decorator.
So, we just google'd his email address and came to this post. THANK YOU everyone for posting this information. We could have lost money and other prospective tenants by believing this guy.
His original email is very similar to everyone else. So, I post email related to his request to wire transfer the remaining amount to his interior decorator here.

We actually called him since we were suspicious even before we got the above email, and he could not even speak English, which was obviously strange given he was supposed to be English.

project in the tropical regions of Asia regarding rare and vulnerable
plant species and this would be commencing very soon, However my
findings were by my American counterparts.So i will be staying in the
states for a while before heading to Asia to round up my research.

I called the company on the check, Jedec, and they said this is the third landlord who received a forged check issued on their account from Gideon Cole. I wanted him to waste the $23 postage and get the check for evidence. Beware of these three Craigslist scammers-Gideon Cole, Shamik Spann and Joseph William.

It appears the con artist is using new names ( Yen Wei and Pual Cole ) and companies in Malaysia (Zurich mc insurance Bhd Malaysia).

With regards to the property I am inquiring about, I will like to get some more details about it, I am currently in the Uk and I am Relocating down to the US to do a survey for my employer ( KRS Insurance Group (UK), as we are about to open an office in the state, so due to my non presence to inspect the Property, I will like you to give me the below details,

# I need full details including address of the property and pictures if available for the place.
# Monthly rentals/security deposits.
# If utilities is added to monthly rent.
# When the property would be available.
# Mail me the total move in cost.

Joseph William also attempted the same structure of a scam, over my motorcycle. I had him make his check out to the detective in charge of cyber crime in my area and send it to her. I hope he got caught.
